You’re easily talking about hundreds of hours over the life time of the game (some will put in thousands) but $70 isn’t justified? It’s less than a dollar and hour, even if you don’t do anything but the story it’s only a bit over a dollar an hour. 70$ gets you at minimum 40-50 hours of content (campaign and exploring the world) with an additional potential 100-200 (maxing one character) hours per character, per season. This is an extremely dated design.ĭiablo 4 is one of the best values for games I’ve ever seen. They are both bad but that’s why d3 did away with it while it was in its infancy where as in d2r it’s a third party external website and still the main system being used today. This is not the same a third party website that doesn’t reset FG between seasons. There’s a reason every modern ARPG has scrapped this design, it’s not because it was good.ĭ3 had a real money first party trade tool built into the games interface. You have to press a shit skill to use a good skill because it promotes skill expression and doesn’t cause you to constantly buy potions, waste half your inventory on them for a lot of the game or get spammed nearly as frequently. Nightmare dungeons have affixes that make each run different that scale difficulty almost infinitely. I thought it was hammers but could have still been smite, I was playing a paladin. Yes d clone and Ubers are very easy compared to modern bosses. If that’s no longer the case I’ll walk back on that one. Last I saw single button casts were a console/controller (console lul)thing. I like d2r but if you think it doesn’t feel dated you are either being disingenuous or you are an idiot. They also aren’t the main form of trading in any modern arpg. P2w sites exist in some other games but no in d3 or d4. Flask spam is dated design that does not exist in modern games. Spenders are much more interesting and much less carpel tunnel. Even POE the ultimate flask game auto casts flasks now. Potion spam is a dated mechanic that is not in any modern Arpgs. The charms you get after leveling help but don’t fix the leveling experience which is most of the game in d2. You may want to learn what endgame content is. Farming the acts for gear is not endgame content. Bosses you easily kill once with 0 effort are not endgame content. You may want to learn want equipped means.Ġ endgame content? Yup. You use hot keys to change what skill is equipped in those 2 slots. All of your skills are fired through those 2 keys. Immortals even alright for what it is, play through the story for free but don’t expect to get far into the harder difficulties without spending some money.Ģ equipped skills? You have right click and left click equipped. Hell I even loved D1, I hope it ends up on the switch someday without needing to mod it. However I enjoy playing it from time to time anyways.ĭ4 is great, I enjoyed the hell out of my early access and missed the launch today cuz I flew back to work so I’ve missed the server drama. But it gets boring much faster for me personally. Loot showers from high difficulty rifts and big damage number. It’s much faster paced, arcade like play style. Wish I woulda have got the prime evil collection on my switch when I bought D2R for it, decided against it because I didn’t realise the switch version could be played offline and since I only play my switch when I’m away for work I don’t have internet I didn’t bother. Even with amazing gear some monsters spawns can still be a nightmare especially on high player counts.ĭ3 is also fun in a different way. It’s dark, atmospheric and finding good gear is a rush.
